Distinguishing Features of HISB

• We are one of the oldest coaching schools in the business
• As an organization, we’ve been in business for twenty years
• We have an underlying holistic and developmental approach based on the model we have developed over the past thirty years. The model is carefully described in all of our books, The Adult Years, The Handbook of Coaching and LifeLaunch.
• Our program design is a combination of highlighting and reviewing theories and concepts from those fields of study informing the emerging profession of coaching; and coaching skills development and practice.
• We have four key elements that extend throughout our eight month program including:
  • Theories and Concepts relevant to Coaching
  • Understanding Self as Coach
  • Understanding the Process of Coaching
  • Coaching Skills Practice and Development
• Our leadership teams are comprised of seasoned professionals who are a combination of practitioners and theoretical specialists in the field. Our teams are very experienced with 20-30 years of practice, writing, and teaching in this and related fields
• Fundamental to our program is an adult learning community approach. Our program is face-to-face and we believe that transformational learning requires an experiential approach to learning. Co-founder, Frederic Hudson, Ph.D., first developed this model when he founded The Fielding Graduate University in the early 70’s.
• Our program has an extensive required reading list along with a rigorous set of expectations. Many liken it to a master’s program.
• We carefully screen our applicants so that you are in the company of other seasoned leaders and practitioners in the field.
• We are an ACTP Accredited School through ICF, International Coach Federation, and for our participants, this means that you are able to move from receiving a certificate in our program to easily beginning the credentialing process through ICF if you so desire
• Participants are a combination of internal professionals typically in OD, HR and Sr Leader Positions; Consultants and Coaches in private or group practices wanting to deepen their skill set; and professionals in the fields of medicine, psychology, health and law.
• Often people ask why it is necessary to attend our foundation transition and change program, LifeLaunch. We consider this an essential part of our program, and it is your only opportunity to experience our development, holistic model on a personal level. This program thoroughly prepares you to immerse yourself in the Coach Training when you arrive
